Introduce yourself! What class[es] do you currently teach, how long have you been at 九色社区, and what do you like to do outside of school??

Year 5 at 九色社区….Outside school: hang out with my family…Jiu Jitsu….rock climbing.

When did you discover your love for English? Did you always love it?

I always liked reading and writing, but when I was in the military, I really took the time to explore literature and consider its place in my life. I started taking university courses and fell in love with all the possibilities of teaching and exploring ideas as an English teacher.

What is your opinion on AI and Chat GPT? How, if at all, do you incorporate it into your teaching?

I think it is a fantastic tool and will provide (currently) unimaginable opportunities for the way we create and share knowledge. I’m still exploring how to best use it in the classroom.

Which is your favorite English skill: Reading, Writing, or Speaking?

It depends on the day. Ha! I am a big fan of a well-designed and practiced presentation, though

Please give a book recommendation and explain why students should read this book.?

The Little Prince—the world needs continual reminders of gentleness and kindness

If you could teach a course based on your niche interest, what would it be??

I would teach a media course to further explore and consider how the media we consume is crafted and how it impacts us.

What do you want students to take away from your classes??

I hope students can walk away from every class gathering with a slightly updated view of themselves and their place in the world.
